Manson and Lindsay have both said that Wild at Heart (1990) is their favorite Lynch film and favorite romance film, to the point where their wedding theme in 2020 was inspired by Wild at Heart , and they even invited Nicolas Cage, the star of the film, to attend, which he did via a video call. Also, a quote from the film spoken by Crispin Glover can be heard in the song "Lunchbox", when you hear: "I'm making my lunch!" Lawyers Dispute Marilyn Manson Deposition in Ashley Walters Case

On December 16th a dispute was resolved between the attorneys of Marilyn Manson and Ashley Walters in regards to the deposition of Marilyn Manson for the purpose of discovery in the case which is set for trial in June 2025.

According to court documents, the cutoff date for discovery in this case is May 2nd 2025, and while Manson wants to delay discovery and his deposition until the investigation by the LASD for the LADA is over which will determine if criminal charges will be brought against him, Walters wishes to proceed as normal and not delay the May 2nd cutoff date.

According to Walters' attorneys, Manson received a notice for his deposition on June 28th 2024 which was scheduled for October 30th 2024. However, on October 9th 2024 the LADA issued a public statement that they were still investigating Manson's case and would soon resolve the matter. This imminent end to the criminal investigation prompted Manson's attorneys to "frivolously" seek to delay the deposition on October 24th, six days before the scheduled deposition. Manson in turn did not appear for his deposition on October 30th. Walters' attorneys have argued that Manson can plead the Fifth Amendment and not answer any questions if he so chooses, but he should not be allowed to further delay the case. They also requested that Manson be sanctioned and pay Walters her attorneys' fees for causing a frivolous delay in the case.

However, Manson's attorneys have stated that Walters' attorneys have misrepresented the timeline of events in order to manufacture a basis for her ex partre application to advance the hearing date of Manson's request for a Motion for Protective Order hearing on January 31st 2025. They argued that both parties agreed Walters' deposition would be taken first, and she is the one who kept rescheduling. In fact, it was not until December 3rd 2024 that Walters agreed to her deposition for December 19th. They also clarified that Manson was not seeking a delay in his deposition, but because the Plaintiff had not had her deposition done as agreed and delayed it until December 19th, Manson wished to move his deposition to January 2025 after the holidays. It was also requested for the court to deny Walters' ex partre application, since there is no undue burden or immediate danger to her in waiting till January 31st, as required for an ex partre to be granted.

To break it down, Walters was first scheduled for her deposition on June 17, 2024 and Manson's was for July 1, 2024. It was agreed by both parties the Plaintiff (Walters) would go first. Walters rescheduled her deposition for October 2, 2024, so Manson's was also rescheduled for October 30, 2024. However, on October 1st both parties agreed to reschedule both depositions, Walters for November 12th and Manson for November 13th. This is why Manson did not show up for his deposition on October 30th. Then on October 24th Manson's attorneys informed Walters' attorneys that due to the recent statement of the LADA on October 9th, that the criminal investigation was coming to an end, Manson would be filing an MPO to delay his deposition and the hearing for that would be January 31st 2025. The filing for the MPO took place on October 29th.

On December 16th, the court ruled that Manson's Motion for Protective Order was denied, due to there not being any "blanket protective order." It was also ruled that Walters' request for sanctions against Manson be denied.

According to a report by Rolling Stone issued the same day, Judge Steve Cochran said Manson can still show up, assert his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and refuse to answer questions.

“He has a right to use the Fifth Amendment. But the Fifth Amendment is not designed to prevent and delay victims from getting justice. That’s how he’s trying to use it here – to prevent his particularly heinous behavior from seeing the light,” Walters' attorney Kate McFarlane told Rolling Stone.

In summary, the deposition of Walters and Manson was scheduled and agreed upon to take place this past summer in June and July, but due to rescheduling by Walters it was delayed to October. However, when the LADA made a public statement on Manson's case that the criminal investigation was nearly over on October 9th, Manson sought to delay his deposition with an MPO. The court denied this request. It is not certain if Walters had her deposition done today, December 19th, and when Manson is scheduled for his.
