First Week Chart Results for Marilyn Manson's "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1"

After one week from its release on November 22nd, the first week chart results are in for Marilyn Manson's "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1". Though most of Manson's previous albums have landed in the top ten overall albums, that Manson now did well on the charts especially in genre specific ones should be seen as a positive when you consider there has been very little promotion for this album with his recent signing under a new label. Moreover most music publications that have had negative stories about Manson for the past few years chose to ignore the release altogether, choosing to focus on his scandals over the past few weeks rather than his music. It also was released at the same time as other more major releases in recent weeks, including the fact that six classic Christmas albums took higher spots showing many people are focused on getting in the holiday spirit. On the Billboard 200 for top albums, it landed overall at #32. Marilyn Manson is currently #...

Marilyn Manson's Triumphant Return To Monterrey

The last time Marilyn Manson played in the Mexican city of Monterrey was November 5, 2003 during his Grotesk Burlesk tour, and it was one of the most controversial concerts in the strange musical history of Monterrey. The streets and public squares were filled with protesters, especially in front of the State Government Palace, the State Congress and some churches, primarily by various evangelical and conservative groups, where they were passing out religious pamphlets and gathering signatures to persuade the city to cancel Marilyn Manson's upcoming performance. It was argued that Marilyn Manson was a harmful character for youth, who spread violence, sex, satanism, drug use and suicide. It didn't help Manson's situation when almost two years earlier, on January 29, 2002, a teenager named Julio Castrillón mercilessly murdered Ana Nassar, a 13-year-old girl. This murder was one of the most macabre crimes in the history of Monterrey, and it sparked a debate much like the Colum...

Initial Thoughts on Marilyn Manson's Settlement With Evan Rachel Wood

In a developing story, Rolling Stone reported about an hour ago that Marilyn Manson dropped his lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood. According to the article, he has agreed to pay nearly $327,000 in Evan’s attorneys’ fees. The article refers to a statement issued by Evan's attorneys (Michael Kump, Shawn Holley and Katherine Kleindienst of Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP) which Rolling Stone summarizes as follows: "Brian Warner had sought to settle the lawsuit this past spring at the same time he was appealing a judge’s rulings against him. His initial offer was to pay a portion of Wood’s fees in return for keeping the settlement confidential, other than releasing a mutually agreed-upon statement. Wood rejected this offer. Her lawyers say she did not want to agree to confidentiality or the other terms. Warner subsequently agreed to drop his suit against Wood completely and pay her full lawyers’ fees." A rep for Evan Rachel Wood stated: "Marilyn Manson — who...

Marilyn Manson's "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1": My Initial Impressions

The day has finally arrived! Since September 11, 2020, we have been living in the "We Are Chaos" era, and what a chaotic time it has been. Many could not have imagined that what happened to Marilyn Manson in 2021 would have resulted in his 12th studio album "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1" released on November 22, 2024. This is the moment we have patiently waited for, this is the moment we have earnestly fought for. And not only do we have a new album, but a new video for the title track was released this morning, the fourth video released for this nine track album, which is amazing in itself. Every song on this album is excellent, and certainly beyond my expectations. Tyler Bates and the band have given Manson a fresh new sound to work with that captures the emotion and atmosphere of each track really well, and the accompanying videos directed by Billy Ukich and the rest of the crew, with the photography by Joey Cultice, Perou and Lindsay have provided stu...
