ALL THE VILEST THINGS: Marilyn Manson Between Heaven and Hell

  “All the Vilest Things” initially sounds like a song about retaliation. The speaker has been attacked, wounded, and subjected to things that were intended to destroy him, and much of the language is deliberately violent. Yet Manson's own explanation points in a different direction. He describes the song as being about “balancing your resentments” and determining the proper measure of punishment in matters of war. More importantly, he says that the song provides “a real balance to the idea of vengeance.” The lyrics suggest that this balance comes from recognizing the damage that has been done without allowing the desire for revenge to become the thing that defines what happens next. The opening establishes the situation immediately: “You tried your best To destroy me I don't want revenge Because you only Made me stronger.” There is no attempt to minimize what happened. Marilyn Manson in the News (September 29 - November 28, 2023)

In my last news update from September 28th, we ended with Marilyn Manson settling the case brought against him by Jane Doe/Chloe Black a week before the trial, with Chloe Black playing the victim till the very end, and Manson's lawyer firing back at her calling her bluff. Though news stories have been slow since then, there is still plenty to cover, so let's see what's been going on. October 5 - Evan Rachel Wood on Navigating Narcissism On October 5, 2013, Evan Rachel Wood was interviewed on the YouTube show called Navigating Narcissism hosted by Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a licensed clinical psychologist. The premise of this show is to "help you spot red flags and heal from the narcissist in your life." It is a nearly two hour interview, and Evan pretty much spent the whole time talking about her relationship with Manson.
