Evan is gone!
Yes, she has has been eerily silent for a few weeks now.
Yes, she has deactivated her Instagram account.
Yes, she is no longer starring in a film she was scheduled to start filming in June.
This leads us to ask: oh where, oh where has Evan Rachel Wood gone?
And by us, I mean me, because it seems the media could care less to even wonder.
Let's go over the timeline of events.
On March 31st, Evan wrapped up her role in Little Shop of Horrors in New York City. She even posted about it, and I made some comments about what she posted, which can be read here.
We know based on what she was posting that she was living in an apartment while doing eight shows a week of Little Shop of Horrors. If and when she moved out of this apartment since then is not known, but if she did she would have likely gone either back to Nashville or Los Angeles.

Beginning on March 31st till April 3rd, she posted this quote above four times. Very odd, but since we know Evan likes to send secret messages to people on Instagram, and this fits the part, we can assume this is directed at someone specifically, perhaps a new boyfriend/girlfriend or something of the sort. In fact, she has made a number of posts since moving to New York and after the show there wrapped up that suggests she indeed was or is in a relationship, and Evan being controlling and manipulative, was not happy with how things were going and felt her needs weren't being met, so she was ranting in her own way on social media, as she is wont to do.
Meanwhile, let's not forget that Marilyn Manson announced his upcoming summer tour on March 9th, which Evan never made a comment about.
What Evan did have something to say about was the documentary Quiet On Set, a docu-series that discusses the toxic culture behind some of the most iconic children's shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s. As a child star herself who has spoken much on this topic, it hit home for her, which she revealed in a series of posts on April 2nd. It should also be noted that Evan began to delete from her Instagram friends who were mentioned in this docu-series, such as her Westworld co-star and friend James Marsden. For her to unfollow him is a big deal.

On April 8th, Evan posted three photos with no commentary. When you look into the background for each scene and what it depicts, it will show that it is someone who is in love that is frustrated or sad.
Another big new topic for Evan over the past few months has been to go after the anti-ageing industry, especially when it comes to children using anti-ageing products and getting surgeries to look younger. Here is what she posted about it on April 13th.
On April 14, Evan deactivated her Instagram for the first time. Before doing so, she posted the following story, which is a topic Evan has addressed dozens of times. Whether she is posting here about her own parents or herself is unknown.
Evan returned to Instagram on April 17th. She made no posts. She remained silent until April 24th, when she deactivated her Instagram for the second time, and it has remained deactivated till this day. The media has not reported on this like they did when she deactivated her Twitter account in 2020.
It should be noted that I also discovered an interview online that I missed from January 24th 2024, where Travis Webb, the SVP of Sales for the Americas at Fifth Season, talks about the upcoming Marilyn Manson documentary. In this interview it is confirmed that it will be released in 2024, it will focus on the investigation conducted by Rolling Stone and thus biased against Manson, and most interestingly that Evan Rachel Wood "is a key contributor."
Evan also has a movie coming out in May 2024 called Backspot, which was filmed last year. This was produced by her friend Elliot Page, and she will play a professional cheerleading coach named Eileen McNamara.
It was also announced back in February 2024 that Evan Rachel Wood, Josh Gad and Anthony Carrigan will star in The Adults, a new crime drama from Alex Winter. It was set for filming in Ottowa, Canada in June 2024. The Adults would star Evan and Josh as sister and brother, Megan and Nathan. “I’m thrilled to be working with Evan, Josh and Anthony on this darkly comic crime drama, which takes a sly look at the challenges we all face today, trying to survive in the modern world,” director Alex Winter said.

However...
On May 10th, a new announcement was made about The Adults. First, it was renamed Adulthood. Second, it already started filming in May 2024. Third, Kaya Scodelario and Billie Lourd were signed on to the cast. Fourth, Kaya Scodelario is listed as the one who is going to play Megan. Fifth, Evan Rachel Wood is no longer listed as Megan or any cast member. There is no word as to why Evan has been replaced. Did she drop out? Was she dropped? I find it hard to believe that Evan would be dropped from a film where the director and her co-star are close friends of hers.
So now we are left with questions and no answers.
Will Evan return to Instagram? Why did she leave in the first place? Where is she? Why is she no longer part of Adulthood?
If we were to follow the timeline pattern, what we can speculate is that perhaps Evan lived up to her word (at least for now) and intends to quit Hollywood altogether. For a long time she has also threatened to quit Instagram, complaining about algorithms and it not being fun anymore. Maybe she is just sick and tired of it all.
Part of my own personal theory is that Evan often says things on Instagram and then does things to get reported on by the media. She would often do this before 2021 on Twitter, and the media would immediately report on what she had to say. This even continued when she exclusively began to post on Instagram, and reached its peak when she named Marilyn Manson as her abuser in February 2021. But in the past two years Evan has continued to take on different subjects, and the media more and more just doesn't seem to notice. She probably feels like she is screaming into a void, because for years she has been so used to being reported on for what she has had to say. But now they don't even take notice of her deactivating her Instagram or being dropped from a movie and being replaced by another actress.
Things haven't been going too well for Evan for a long time now. Maybe she needs some time to herself.
On the other hand things are going real well for Marilyn Manson. When Manson announced at his birthday party that 2024 was going to be our year, he meant it. With the upcoming tour and album on the way, things are looking up for Manson. The increase of support for him has dramatically increased as well, as can be seen in most comment sections of various media sources reporting on him in the past few months.
The fact that Evan has had nothing to say about this, when she made a big deal a few years ago about Manson appearing with Kanye at his Donda listening party, could have something to do with her overall silence and withdrawal. In fact, her silence is beginning to say a lot.
And if it continues, it will say even more.
