Sobriety as a Cosmic Ritual

In a recent podcast interview about narcissistic abuse, Evan Rachel Wood said that Marilyn Manson described in his autobiography how the Brian Warner part of him was dead and whatever he had become was now his true self. Her purpose was to show that Manson completely abandoned his humanity and truly came to embody a disassociated narcissistic monster. But is this what his autobiography actually said or even implied? No, of course not. He says something along those lines, but she completely twists it to make a point that fits her narrative rather than the actual facts.  What Manson actually describes in his autobiography is that he went through a personal apocalypse. He writes:  "When I first conceived of Antichrist Superstar , I set out to create an apocalypse. But I didn’t realize it was going to be a personal one. As a child, I had been a weakling, a worm, a follower, a small shadow trying to find a place in an infinite world of light. In the end, in order to find that place...

Watch Marilyn Manson Make a Valentine's Day Dedication To His Wife Lindsay

Valentine's Day has long been a significant day for Marilyn Manson for many reasons, but this year it so happened that Marilyn Manson and his wife Lindsay celebrated Valentine's Day in Brno, Czech Republic while on his European tour.

Earlier in the day, both Manson and Lindsay posted a series of photos for Valentine's Day. The photos of Manson were photographed by Lindsay, and one was captioned "They’d remember this as Valentine’s Day" (which Lindsay captioned as "Always") while the other said "Meet Me In Purgatory" (which Lindsay captioned as "within the fog and trees").

Lindsay posted some additional photos as well:

Later that night, as an introduction to his performance of "Meet Me In Purgatory", Manson made a sweet Valentine dedication to his beloved wife who stuck by him through the best of times and the worst of times. He said the following:

My dearly devoted...

How many of you..., raise your hands if you're in love...

How about just for Valentine's Day...

I have someone who stuck by me through the worst, the best - I will be with them forever.

This is Meet Me In Purgatory.

This beautiful introduction to the song also confirms for us who Manson had in mind when writing "Meet Me In Purgatory".
