Marilyn Manson's Triumphant Night in Ferrara After Months of Controversy

Below is part two of my previous article:  How Marilyn Manson's Upcoming Concert in Ferrara Became Italy's Most Controversial Cultural Event .   For nearly three months, Marilyn Manson's scheduled appearance at the Ferrara Summer Festival was discussed less as a concert than as a cultural battleground. What began in April with an offhand remark by Mayor Alan Fabbri during a radio interview quickly grew into one of Italy's most unusual public controversies, drawing in city officials, the Archdiocese of Ferrara-Comacchio, the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, politicians, journalists, and commentators across the country. By the time July 11 arrived, the debate had become as much about religion, politics, and artistic freedom as it was about music. Yet when the evening finally came, something unexpected happened. The controversy largely disappeared. Instead of headlines dominated by protests or confrontation, Ferrara witnessed exactly what the city had spent month...

Marilyn Manson Proclaims "A New Beginning" Exactly Four Years After Being Falsely Accused

At 4:00am on February 1st 2021, Evan Rachel Wood posted for the first time the name of one of the men she had said back in 2016 that years prior had sexually assaulted and abused her. In her statement she posted that day on her Instagram account, she revealed: "The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson." On this day and over the course of the next few days she had coordinated with other women to put out similar statements against Marilyn Manson, of which hers was written to serve as an introduction. Some of these women would go on to bring lawsuits against Manson a few months later. Manson himself faced a major personal challenge and a setback to his career like no other controversy before, and it was relentless for a long time.

Flash-forward exactly four years later, February 1st 2025, at around 3:00pm, Marilyn Manson and his wife Lindsay Warner are in a very different position, and it is they who are making a personal statement on Instagram. A week before, on January 24th, it was announced by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office that after a four year comprehensive investigation, there was not enough evidence for them to pursue criminal charges against Manson, so his case was dropped. This was the major legal victory Manson was waiting for. And what better time to issue a statement in light of this victory than on the anniversary of the day when his false accusers tried to destroy his personal life and his career.

On January 24th, Manson and Lindsay simply reposted a photo from May 15th 2023 of them together holding three lit candles surrounded by darkness with the caption: "There is light in the darkness." At that time this was a message to Manson fans and supporters to have hope and faith. Then on Saturday February 1st 2025 a series of three photos were posted by Manson that were taken by Lindsay showing Manson sitting in front of an unlit fireplace surrounded by lit candles. The caption says: "A new beginning." Lindsay also posted those photos with other new photos of her own, but her caption only had one word: "Faith." Of course, only Manson and Lindsay can explain what those captions mean to them, but the message seems to be that on the four year anniversary of perhaps the worst day of their lives, Manson and Lindsay feel like the light of truth and justice has served in their favor, which allows Manson to comfortably proclaim he is making a new beginning in his career and as an artist and in his personal life, while Lindsay seems to be saying that she not only always had faith in Manson, but she also had faith that the light of truth and justice would shine in the end. Lindsay also posted a single similar polaroid photo of Manson in her Instastories with a single word: "Together." Indeed, this was a personal trial they faced together.
