The Spoof That Became a Reality: How Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss Became Friends in 2014

Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss hit the stage together in the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors on January 30th, and this Sunday, March 31st, their performances are coming to an end. On February 20th, the pair appeared together on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna to promote their show and talk about how their friendship began a decade ago in 2014 and has continued strong till today. But what was it that brought Evan and Darren together in 2014? It was a spoof on the show Funny or Die of the Tom Hank's movie Big , but in this version of the film the male lead role is played by a female, Evan Rachel Wood. Darren Criss is the adult who plays her love interest and eventually finds out he’s had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl aged by magic. What is interesting on top of this, in the 2003 movie Thirteen , Evan played a 13-year-old who wanted to be older and in one scene she had sex with an older man.   When Big came out in 1988, it was a huge success and few were

Why Did Evan Rachel Wood Really Come Out as a Rape Victim and Name Marilyn Manson?

"November 8 of last year was a strange one. It felt like I was in an avalanche, literally and figuratively."

This is how Evan Rachel Wood opens her Nylon essay from November 17, 2017. On November 8th of 2016, which she is referring to, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. For Evan Rachel Wood, Donald Trump becoming President of the United States was like "an avalanche", in every way you could imagine.

Evan then takes us back to that day the avalanche came crashing down on her.

"I was in Montreal, Canada, just starting production on a film called A Worthy Companion [later renamed Allure], about the cycles of abuse. It is a really intense film, so my headspace was already pretty fragile."

It was just a few months earlier that Evan had come out as a victim of abuse, which she associated with her bisexuality. Now, as Donald Trump was about to be elected President, she was making a film in Canada about abuse, in between playing a television character on Westworld who suffers horrible abuse, and for someone like Evan who is known to take on the personas of certain of her characters, most especially her Dolores character on Westworld, she was in a non-stop world of being abused, at least in her head, as she admits.

Evan than makes three statements of utter despair:

"Ever since then, it seems like the world as I know it has been sucked into a raging current.

Every time I come up for air and take a huge breath, I am knocked back into the awful turbulence by another wave.

I guarantee a large part of the population is depressed and suffering, just from living in America at this moment in history. (By the way, these feelings are completely justified.)"

The election of 2016 meant so much to Evan, that this is how it caused her to feel when "her choice" didn't win.

"On November 8, a small ember of hope was burning inside of me. We may actually have the first female president. Was she perfect? No, but she was overly qualified and deserved to win."

Evan goes on to describe the hope she felt that day that a female would finally become President. Canadian friends had come over with a bottle of champagne to celebrate. On top of that she had just completed an interview with Rolling Stone that she really wanted to be a cover story, but they had rejected it because, as she thought, Rolling Stone was not interested in covering an abuse survivor.

"As the numbers rolled in, the party got quieter and quieter, until we couldn’t move or speak.

I fell into a deep trance, like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. I couldn’t stop staring at the screen, waiting for it all to be a horrible dream, waiting for a miracle to turn it around.

It never came."

This was the moment everything came crashing down for Evan.

"My friends slowly began to creep out the door, leaving me with my country’s horrible fate. They were silently thanking god they don’t reside in my home, giving me a look of pity as they closed the door. Like most people that night, I drank myself to sleep. It felt like the only way to not run through the snowy streets of Montreal shrieking."

Catch the language: "Leaving ME with MY country's horrible fate."

Then November 9th came.

"The next day, I woke up out of my self-induced coma, numb and quiet.

I was out of the country and away from the people I loved and cared about.

I immediately got on the phone with one of my best friends, and we wept together.

That morning I paced around my small apartment in Canada, wondering if I didn’t have a small child waiting for me across the border, whether I would ever go back. I lay down in bed deciding what to do next."

In other words, Evan didn't know what to do with her life now. It was as if the end of the world had come. Donald Trump, whom Evan less than a year earlier wanted to have a nice conversation with, by this time had become the most horrible human in existence, and him being President meant the end of America as we know it. Why even go back there, if it wasn't for her having a kid back in the States?

"After a while, I told myself, 'Get up. Now more than ever. Get. Up.'"

You see, for Evan Rachel Wood, 2016 was the year she became radicalized, more and more as the year went on. But the radicalization had not yet been realized, or reached its peak, in order to make a bold next move. November 8th triggered her radical inner self like nothing else. On November 9th, her radicalization began to be realized.

What did this mean? Well, the first thing was that she had to convince Rolling Stone to give her that cover, so she knew she had to give them an exclusive that would earn it.

"I walked over to the phone and called Rolling Stone. You see, in the interview I had done with them, I dodged questions about sexual assault and rape.

Now, I was done pretending. We were in this mess because of silence and apathy. I got up and admitted to them, 'Yes. I have been raped.'"

And this is what it all comes down to. It really is that simple. Evan Rachel Wood came out as a rape victim because her radicalization was realized, and she felt like she needed to give Rolling Stone an exclusive worthy of a cover story. A lot more developed on top of this, but these are the two factors that prompted Evan Rachel Wood to come out as a rape victim.

Evan goes on to talk about her resentment of the American people as well.

"This was also the day I vowed to only wear suits to every upcoming award show I would be attending. I would not conform to a society that didn’t stand up for me or value me as a human being, so I would not be putting on a dress just to be liked."

Why does Evan feel like she needs to punish us so harshly? Notice the language: "...stand up for ME or value ME as a human being."

You see, for Evan, everything revolves around her, and when the American people chose Donald Trump to be the next President, Evan felt personally offended. Why such resentment for the American people over electing Donald Trump?

"I was going to have to face my rapist every day in the form of The President of the United States. I would also have to explain this mess to my son, who occasionally will walk into the room after I have read news about things like the trans military ban, or the anti-Muslim travel ban, to finds his queer mother silently weeping."

She called Trump "MY rapist". Did you catch that?

If you read the rest of the essay, which is very long-winded and tedious, you will see why she calls Donald Trump "my rapist". I have analyzed the rest of this article in my series titled "Evan Rachel Wood as a Manipulator", and there I explain exactly why she calls Trump "my rapist". And this is why she also made up this big, conniving story that she had been raped, not only by one man, but by two.

Here is a brief summary of why Evan calls Trump "my rapist" and how she planned to turn her resentment of the American people into a means of restoring the American people back to their senses:

According to Evan, Donald Trump is not only her rapist, but the rapist of every woman that has ever been actually raped. Not only that, but every Trump supporter is a victim of abuse, and their abuser is Trump whom they are devoted to and support. This reminds Evan of her relationship with her abuser. This is how Evan identifies with every Trump supporter, because they are all victims of abuse, but like herself when she was in a relationship with her abuser, they are not aware that Trump is actually abusing them. This is where the new radicalized and awake Evan comes in. Like in the story of Plato's Cave, she has emerged from the dark cave of flickering shadows and has now seen what reality is, she has seen the light, and she needs to go back into the cave and tell everyone else bound up in the cave staring at the flickering shadows to come out of the cave with her to see the light, to see reality. In other words, Evan would be America's salvation - by identifying with Trump supporters, she would be able to convert Trump supporters to think the way she thinks. This is what I call - the Great Manipulation. Her activism for the next four years would have this mission in mind, built on the platform of being not just an abuse victim, but a rape victim as well.

Naming Marilyn Manson

Let's follow the timeline, because in the Marilyn Manson case, the timeline is everything.

November 8, 2016
Donald Trump elected President.

November 9, 2016
Evan Rachel Wood tells Rolling Stone she had been raped, as an exclusive story.

November 17, 2016
Rolling Stone publishes Evan Rachel Wood's exclusive story.

Evan never names her two rapists after this. She concentrates on playing the rape card, and being a radical activist against everything she believes Trump stands for.

But then...

January 20, 2021
Donald Trump no longer in office as President.

February 1, 2021
Evan Rachel Wood names one of her rapists: Marilyn Manson.

Evan had stated that victims of rape need to come out as a group in order to be believed, and when she had assembled that group securely, she named her rapist. This is the main reason she was able to name Marilyn Manson, because she was able to secure a number of people to come out with her against Manson, with the help of her good friend Illma Gore, with whom she worked together on the Phoenix Act.

Every step Evan had made up to the point of naming Marilyn Manson was very calculated. First, she got that exclusive story with Rolling Stone, and made headline news everywhere. She had a writing position with Nylon, where she could express some of her ideas. She was already at the pinnacle of her career, playing Delores on Westworld. She stood out at every award show with her pantsuit. She testified before congress on behalf of abuse victims. She passed a law she created known as the Phoenix Act. With all this and more, there were only two possible ways to take the next step - either run for a political office, or name her abusers. Trump, Evan's "rapist", was no longer in office, so why run for an office herself, or do anything politically? Naming her rapist is the next logical step, since her other "rapist" was out of the way. By calling out Manson, who knows what possibilities could be in store?

I think there are other factors as well that I will address elsewhere, but this is what is likely the all around picture of things based on the evidence I have seen.

Other Theories

People have presented to me other theories as to why Evan came out as a rape victim of Marilyn Manson. I've tried to consider them, but they don't seem fit at the end of the day. The only valid alternative theories really come down to three:

1. Evan is still in love with Manson, but when he got married to Lindsay, Evan in a fit of jealousy named Marilyn Manson.

2. Evan is motivated by either money or career in order to restore her status in Hollywood.

3. Evan named Manson because Manson was going to testify on behalf of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard.

None of these make much sense to me.

The first theory mainly comes from young women or die hard fans who probably themselves are in love with Manson. People who say Evan did this out of a fit of jealousy just don't understand or simply ignore her radicalization process in 2016. Evan may hate Lindsay, she may even hate the fact Manson got married to her (on May 15, 2020), but there is nothing connecting this with why she came out as an abuse and rape victim in 2016 and followed the path that led her to February 1, 2021. There are too many holes and too many dots to connect to arrive at this theory, and I hate to connect dots, especially ones that aren't there.

The second theory is equally odd. Evan came out as an abuse and rape victim at the absolute pinnacle of her entire career, when she was the number one actress listed on IMDB. She has no need of money, and she willingly left Hollywood in order to raise her son in the south, like she was. The only thing Evan gained by coming out as a Manson victim is multiple headlines, canceling Manson, and people having a very strong opinion about her. It fits much more into how a radical activist would conduct her career than anything else.

The third theory is too much of a conspiracy theory, with absolutely no evidence to back it up, and is based purely on speculation. A lot of people want to connect the Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp case to the Manson case, since Depp is so close to Manson and Heard shares a friendship with Evan, but I've never seen anything that connects the two. A lot more people follow the Heard vs Depp case than the Manson case, which they don't seem to understand, and they think everything connected with either Depp or Heard ties into the case, but as one who follows both cases, I don't see any connection. Furthermore, like the other two theories, they don't account for Evan's process of radicalization in 2016 and everything that led to 2021, with multiple accusations brought against Manson. Why would Evan, and all the other accusers, put their neck on the line just to get Manson to not testify against Heard? I don't think any of them really care about Heard that much. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Was There Really a Second Rapist?

Even those who have come to accept the fact that Evan is lying about Marilyn Manson are very willing to accept she was raped at least once by that anonymous man in the bar. Personally, I don't think Evan was ever raped by anyone, at least not the two cases she named, but most likely no one. Here are my reasons why:

1. She has never named her second rapist.

2. She has never named the bar she was raped in.

3. She is hazy as to when it happened.

4. Though hazy, it fits into her timeline of events, being after her first breakup with Manson and before she had herself checked into treatment.

5. Whenever she talks about it, it is always in light of what happened the first time she was raped.

6. When you study the details about it, the only indication it was a rape was the fact she says "no, no, no" as it was about to happen, but the "no, no, no" was something Evan was saying in her head, not out loud. If you're only objection to what is happening is in your thoughts, then it is not a rape, at least legally, and Evan admits this.

7. It is hard to imagine a real rape victim coming up with so many lies about a false rape(s).

What do I believe is going on?

Evan may be describing some drunk sexual encounter in a bar, which she has twisted into being a rape, in order to use how she felt during this "rape" as a juxtaposition to how she felt when she was first allegedly raped by Manson. Basically, this second time around, Evan was used to being raped, and went with the flow. It shows how absolutely destroyed she was mentally and emotionally by Manson.

Personally, I think it was a smart move to add the second rape in order to make the first rape sound even more horrible. Bravo Evan! I tip my hat to you.

Conclusion:

Evan is a woman with many mental illnesses. She admits this. Her claim is that they came to her because of Marilyn Manson. I think she has been horribly misdiagnosed, because she is convincing herself of this lie. She doesn't realize how paranoid she is, she doesn't realize how much of an egomaniac she is. Evan is a great manipulator and liar, but she is doing it I believe with a clean conscience, because in her mind it is for the greater good. Initially it was because she wanted to destroy Trump and all he represents. It still is that way now that Trump, her "rapist", is not in office, but she is now using Marilyn Manson, her "rapist", to do it. All she really needs is to be seen as a victim of abuse and rape. Everything will then fall into place. Psychologically she thrives on being a victim. When she and the other accusers see Manson going to a Kanye West event, and they say they are being "abused and raped and traumatized" every time they see him, it may be true, because their victimhood is being violated by Manson being seen, spoken well of, even existing. Hysteria! Spectral Evidence! This is what they called it in Salem back in the 17th century.

I'm writing this on Evan Rachel Wood's five year anniversary of when her radicalization was realized, which is the day she called that Rolling Stone reporter and gave them the exclusive they could not ignore - that she was a victim of rape. For this I wish Evan a Happy Anniversary! Did it all work out like you wanted it too?
