“All the Vilest Things” initially sounds like a song about retaliation. The speaker has been attacked, wounded, and subjected to things that were intended to destroy him, and much of the language is deliberately violent. Yet Manson's own explanation points in a different direction. He describes the song as being about “balancing your resentments” and determining the proper measure of punishment in matters of war. More importantly, he says that the song provides “a real balance to the idea of vengeance.” The lyrics suggest that this balance comes from recognizing the damage that has been done without allowing the desire for revenge to become the thing that defines what happens next. Tyler Bates, who has co-written and produced four albums for Marilyn Manson and toured with him on and off since 2015, announced his departure from the band today, January 5th 2025, in a post on Instagram.
In 2015 and 2018 he made similar announcements, and joined Marilyn Manson once again to help revive his career after a number of setbacks by working with him on the album One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 (2024) and the upcoming One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2 (2026), as well as touring with the band for 100 shows all around the world in 2024 and 2025. He wrote:

No announcement has yet been made about a possible replacement.
