PART ONE (A) In the first of three episodes for the docuseries Marilyn Manson: Unmasked , we are introduced to Marilyn Manson in a shocking way from the very beginning. I'm not sure the origins of the video clip, as I've never seen it before, but it is around 1995 and it shows him wearing an Adam Ant t-shirt with red lipstick smeared around the area of his mouth as he is being interviewed in a fairly crowded room of bandmates and groupies, while he randomly lights a fire in the middle of the floor. Marilyn Manson and his wife Lindsay Warner attended the final show of The Savior's Tour at Petco Park in San Diego on September 28th, with Green Day as the headliner supported by The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.
Manson's friendship and collaboration with Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins goes back many years, and this marks their first public meeting since the allegations against Manson in 2021. And of course James Iha, the guitarist of The Smashing Pumpkins, is the brother-in-law of Manson, being married to Lindsay's twin sister Ashley.
Green Day has been sampling and covering Manson's "The Beautiful People" since at least 1998 (listen here), but on their The Savior's Tour throughout the summer of 2024 their Intro has been a cool mix of "The Beautiful People" with "The Imperial March" from Star Wars. This has not gone unnoticed by Manson, so while attending their show from the side stage in San Diego, Lindsay made sure to grab a video of Manson and Billie Joe Armstrong meeting while the Intro played in the stadium.
