Ten Thoughts and Observations I Had Rewatching Evan Rachel Wood's "Phoenix Rising" (Part One)

When the two-part documentary Phoenix Rising aired on HBO on March 15th and 16th 2022, I saw it and immediately wrote my review of part two, having already written my review of part one when I saw its premiere at Sundance over a month earlier. I didn't have much time to process it at the time, because it has a lot of information, and with limited space to write about it in a limited time, there was only so much you could address. After watching the documentary about 3 or 4 times, I realized I could easily write a book with all I had to say. Now that some time had passed since I last saw it, I just rewatched the documentary this past week on the anniversary of its premiere, and there were things that stood out to me that I didn't either capture a year ago or didn't have enough knowledge at the time to better comprehend. I will try to summarize my thoughts and observations into a list of ten things I wanted to address, though it could easily be more than ten, choosing five t

Eight Revealing Things We Learn About Evan Rachel Wood in an Interview from 2020 in Light of What Has Transpired Since

On September 19, 2020, the New York Times published a revealing article about Evan Rachel Wood, just a few months before naming Marilyn Manson as her abuser and rapist, and during the time that we now know she was living in Los Angeles and filming her documentary Phoenix Rising . The title of the article is revealing in itself: "Evan Rachel Wood Uses Her Roles to Heal". I have covered this topic several times, of how Evan uses her film and television roles to project things she is dealing with in real life, work out issues that may be troubling her, and even create a fantasy persona. If you go down the list of almost all her work, the parallels clearly fit with her real life. One can argue from this that in her real life, she walks a fine line between reality and fantasy. Below, I want to extract a few things from this revealing 2020 article in light of what we have learned so far about Evan and all that has transpired since that time.   1. Evan's Unclear Distinction Bet

Eight Little Known Facts About Marilyn Manson's Controversial 'Heart-Shaped Glasses' Video

1. The song "If I Was Your Vampire" inspired Manson to write a scene for a film the day he finished it, which would feature Evan Rachel Wood and be based on the themes of Eat Me, Drink Me . When he was asked about what the film would be about in an interview with Rock Mag in May 2007, he said: "It’s about the love between me and her, just like the song. It’s a lot like Bonnie and Clyde and True Romance . I drive a car over a cliff and it rains blood." This scene was eventually reworked and incorporated into different scenes in the 'Heart-Shaped Glasses' video. 2. Marilyn Manson was still legally married to Dita Von Teese during the making of 'Heart-Shaped Glasses'. In an interview with the Toronto Star on May 13, 2007, Dita was asked if she was divorced yet from Manson, to which she replied: "Not at all. ( Laughs ) We're officially still married." After this she replied the following when asked if she saw the 'Heart-Shaped Glas

Is There Collusion Between Evan Rachel Wood and Rolling Stone Magazine To Bring Down Marilyn Manson?

In part one of Evan Rachel Wood's documentary Phoenix Rising , she claims that Marilyn Manson said "Hitler was the first rock star," as she desperately tries to build a case that Manson was obsessed with Nazism and an admirer of Hitler. This is a claim that is easily disproved, and as I pointed out in my review of part one of Phoenix Rising , it is very well known to those familiar with Manson's career that he has never said anything positive about Nazism and Hitler, and in fact has clearly stated in a few places that "Jesus Christ was the first rock star." Instead, the one who implied "Hitler was the first rock star" was a musical idol held dear by both Manson and Evan - David Bowie. During his Thin White Duke era, and a period of intense drug use, Bowie spoke tongue-in-cheek through that persona as if he supported fascism and admired Hitler. Among the things he said, to quote exactly, was that "Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars

A Brief Look at Evan Rachel Wood's Television Appearances Promoting 'Phoenix Rising'

Besides perhaps early February of 2021, Marilyn Manson has probably been in the news more this month than at any other point in his career, and for that we mainly have to thank his ex-fiance Evan Rachel Wood. She has single-handedly been able to drag his name through the furnace of the Me Too era for people to reevaluate his career for the current and future generations through her accusations against him, but it is up to us to determine whether her accusations are trustworthy or not, and whether or not Marilyn Manson will emerge from the furnace scathed and charred or refined like gold. On March 14th there began a tidal wave of bad press against Marilyn Manson, a sample of which I will present below. This is the day what I call "Evan Promotion Week" began. I anticipated this bad press in January as soon as it was announced that Phoenix Rising would debut on HBO in March. I told people to expect at least one major television appearance by Evan Rachel Wood to promote her docu
